Parent mail communication

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you've had a relaxing half term. We are looking forward to welcoming back our younger members of the school community on Monday 22nd February (Nursery - Year 2). We would like to ask that you please arrive at school at your allocated time to ensure that we are able to socially distance and continue to work within the current regulations. All parents entering onto the school yard MUST be wearing a face covering, unless you are exempt from this on medical grounds. We will continue to operate the one way system, entry to school through Norfolk Street and we ask that you leave via Surry Street.

A stringent risk assessment is in place incorporating the Welsh Government and LA guidelines, ensuring that we do all we can to keep our school community safe on the return to school. Hand washing and sanitising will be undertaken throughout the school day. Can I please ask that if your child is unwell that they remain at home until they have fully recovered.

Please remember to send your child to school with a snack, packed lunch and a drink (no fizzy drinks), in a small lunch box. There will be no onsite catering facilities at this time.

As a reminder the start and finish times are as follows:

Year 2           8:30am - 2:45pm

Year 1           8:45am - 3:00pm

Reception     9:00am - 3:15pm

Nursery AM  9:00am - 11:30am

Nursery PM  12:45pm - 3:15pm

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mrs Cooper.

We look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Best wishes

3rd Jan 2021

Good morning all,

Happy new year to all of you! We are very much looking forward to welcoming you back to school as soon as we can and online learning will begin from Tuesday 5th January as Monday 4th January is a designated INSET day. Online learning will be accessed from the website as last time, where the class pages will give you directions on the learning that will take place. The teachers' direct emails can also be found there and teachers can remind you of your child's logins and passwords if needed, although the children will hopefully be now well versed on these and should be able to access these independently, especially our junior children.

We will be in touch as soon as we have further information and updates from the local authority. We will also be in touch regarding critcal worker provision from tomorrow.

Please enjoy your last day of the break and we will speak to you soon,

Kind regards,

M Kinsey

11th Sept 2020

Dear all,

Another thanks for all your positivity on the gate and in the yard this morning; for arriving and leaving punctually; for keeping your distance from others and waiting patiently. It really is helping us to run our systems as smoothly and safely as possible for the good of all our Lansdowne community.

We know you are hearing on the news of increased cases and some infection cases in primary schools. Please be assured that we have all our procedures in place ready for such a situation and are kept fully up to speed daily on changing guidance from the local authority and our designated health and safety officer.

As a reminder, and to keep everyone feeling calm in an emotive time for all of us, please ensure that you always follow the guidance attached before entering the school community. We have attached it as a word document, should you wish to print it out at home and have it ready for information.

Finally, a number of parents were asking this morning about their children potentially needing to wear face masks from Monday in communal areas of the building. Please can we clarify this is not a requirement for primary aged pupils so you do not need to bring a mask for your child, unless you have a specific wish to do so.

Have a lovely weekend everyone- keep well and safe.

Kind regards,

Michelle Kinsey

1st Sept

Dear all,

We hope that you are looking forward to the beginning of the school year 2020-2021- we are very glad to be welcoming you back full time from Thursday 3rd September (Years 1 to 6) and from Monday 7th September (Year Rec and nursery)

Start and end times are as the previous email and can be found on the website. These are to help us manage the volume of traffic coming to and leaving school at any one time. The one way system remains in operation so families will be expected to arrive via Norfolk street keeping a safe distance from others, through the main entrance- foundation phase pupils travelling along the hearts and keystage 2 through the main entrance along the stars. Adults will be asked to continue to travel along the chevrons in the middle and across the playground, exiting the site via the Surrey street black door. If you didn't come to check in/catch up sessions last term, it would be worth you watching the student help video that was created when school reopened in July (on the website) to assist you in coming and going to school and also expectations for handwashing.

Changes for September:

All changes that we have made are for infection control management purposes. We have communicated these already- but just to jog your memory ready for next week:

  • Visitors will be able to enter the school strictly by appointment only. Should you wish to talk to a member of staff face to face please telephone the office to make an appointment.
  • There will be no catering onsite for at least the first two weeks back and will be dependent on risk assessments going forward. Please provide your child with a packed lunch, snack and filled water bottle. Water fountains are not permitted to be used. Please use wipeable containers. Please also ensure that your child has these at the beginning of every day, because you will not be able to access the main school office if you forget your child's lunch.
  • Children are asked to bring as minimal items as possible to school, a lunch container and water bottle as above. We will provide all stationery- no pencil cases are permitted.
  • There is no need to bring masks or hand sanitiser unless you have a strong wish to do so.
  • Children will be given plenty of regular opportunities throughout the day to wash hands, particularly at key times like entering/exiting the building; before and after eating; after toileting. This will be supervised by adults but if you could talk to your children prior to coming back about the importance of good hand hygiene.
  • There will be no breakfast club or after school clubs for now.

Finally, IF YOU HAVE AN EXISTING OR NEW CHILD CARE ARRANGEMENT WITH A PROVIDER PLEASE WOULD YOU CONTACT CooperC94@hwbcymru.net as soon as possible so we can organise a collection agreement. Please provide the name, date of birth, year group, class of your child and their child care provider's full name. Also, please inform us of the days they are dropped off and collected with this provider.

All steps undertaken at Lansdowne Primary are in accordance with local authority/Welsh gov guidance and in conjunction with our health and safety officer. Please be assured that we are confident to welcome your children back safely and get back on with the very important business of learning and playing.

With very best wishes we will see you soon,

Kind regards,
