Croeso i Dosbarth Cowbridge

Welcome to Cowbridge Class

Here you will find all the key information about what is happening in school as well as spellings, a weekly overview and some games and websites to help the Cowbridge children to achieve their very best.

Your teacher in Cowbridge class is Mr B.

If you need to contact Mr B please email him on:

bunnm7@hwbcymru.net

Looking ahead we are going to be discussing money in maths next term and looking more at creative writing. We will cover more about the senses and how to take care of things like eyes, ears, teeth etc.

P.E is just on Friday for Cowbridge Class this half term.

This week in Cowbridge Class:

Monday:

Tuesday:

Wednesday: Year 3 trip to Big Pit

Thursday: Art with Mr McInnes (no PE kit needed).

Friday: Wellbeing P.E.

Important things to know

PE:

On PE days ( Fridays), please come to school wearing your PE kit. Make sure you have trainers on or have brought trainers to change into for the lesson. PE kit should be joggers, shorts or leggings that allow you to move, run and jump easily, and a T-shirt. On cold days, make sure you have a jumper too.

On all other school days, please wear your school uniform.

Reading:

Children should read with a grown -up for 5-10 minutes every day. This is the very best way to improve your reading skills. Reading should mostly be your Home Reading Book that you take from school, but can be a shared story, a comic or a book you have borrowed from school. Just read!

Home Reading Books:

Everyone will have a home reading book and reading log. You can change this book on any day, as soon as you have read it. Please fill in the reading log with your grown-up.

You may also borrow any book at any level from the class libraries. The school library is available for children to borrow books. It is open on some lunch breaks and usually on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after school.

Spellings!

Year 3's next spelling test will be on Wednesday 7th May

Please help the children learn their spelling each week.

Spelling tests will  be every Wednesday.  You will have a spelling group and a set of words for your group. Practising your spellings for a few minutes every day makes them much easier to remember than one big learning session on the night before the test. Every week, as well as your spelling list, you will see a link for spelling games underneath the list. These links will take you to games you can play that help you to test your spelling knowledge.

Your next Spelling Test is on Wednesday 7th May. The focus is on adding suffixes (endings) to words with 2 consonants at the end.

KEY KNOWLEDGE: a, e, i, o and u are vowels in English. All other letters are consonants. Play these games to practise recognising vowels and consonants:

PE and Games Lessons

P.E. will be on a FRIDAY. Children should wear school uniform on every day except Friday when they can come in their P.E. kits.

Kit must be sports clothing: shorts or joggers, trainers and a loose T-shirt. Jumpers are a good idea in the colder months.
