Welcome to Year 4's Homework Page

Please find below the work for your child to complete at home during the school closure period.

The expectations are that children still complete activities while they are unable to attend school. Children should aim to complete all of the activities set within a week. May we suggest the following daily schedule:

30 mins of reading time ( using Bug Club - preferably with an adult)

30 mins of physical exercise

1 x Maths activity including at least 15 minutes of mental maths (this may be done on Sumdog)

1 x Literacy activity (one activity may be continued over two days if necessary)

Within a week, children should also aim to complete:

 2 topic or creative activities.

Other optional activities will also be provided

All children who attended school on Wednesday 18th March have been provided with a green card with the log-ins that they need.

If they have lost their log-ins or were not in school, please email me at and I will send out their log-ins.

Work will be set at the beginning of the week and I will check in on progress during the week. Children have been informed that they can organise their tasks as they wish Eg complete all of the maths first, as long as tasks are completed by the end of the week.

Most tasks will be shared by email or on Teams which are both accessible through the Hwb website:

Ideally children will complete tasks online and email them to me so that I can provide feedback. Children are also able to email me with any questions or concerns about their work or just to say hello!

My email address is

However, if you are accessing the homework from a mobile phone they can complete tasks in their homework books and bring them in to school when we return.

Weekly Homework:

  •  List of spellings to learn which will be tested on the following Monday.
  •  A piece of maths homework which consolidates the learning from the previous week - this is given out on Tuesdays and should be back by the following Monday.

Termly Homework:

Each term the children will also be given homework that is related to our current topic. This is a long term homework and children have several weeks to complete it.

Ongoing Homework:

We encourage parents to read with their children as much as possible. We will send home a book from our reading scheme on a weekly basis.

Children are encouraged to regularly practise their times tables. They should try to learn them in the following order: 2s, 10s, 5s, 3s, 4s, 6s, 8s, 9s, 7s, 11s, and 12s and should know them fluently so they can answer quickly and out of sequence.

Sosban Fach

Mae bys Meri-Ann wedi brifo,

A Dafydd y gwas ddim yn iach.

Mae'r baban yn y crud yn crio,

A'r gath wedi sgramo Joni bach.

Sosban fach yn berwi ar y tân,

Sosban fawr yn berwi ar y llawr,

A'r gath wedi sgramo Joni bach.

Mae bys Meri-Ann wedi gwella,

A Dafydd y gwas yn ei fedd;

Mae'r baban yn y crud wedi tyfu,

A'r gath wedi huno mewn hedd.

Sosban fach yn berwi ar y tân

Sosban fawr yn berwi ar y llawr

A'r gath wedi huno mewn hedd.

Dai bach y sowldiwr, Dai bach y sowldiwr, Dai bach y sowldiwr, A chwt ei grys e mas.
