Robert Falcon Scott Diary entry number 3

Yesterday you wrote your diary entry for Robert Falcon Scott's trip to Antarctica.  Today we would like you to write the next instalment of Robert Scott's diary entry. This time he has just landed in Antarctica. He needs to gather his crew and equipment and get ready to race Roald Amundsen to the South Pole.

Things to remember when writing your diary:

  • He has just arrived in Antarctica. How is he feeling? What is the weather like? What is the moral of the crew like? What clothes is he having to wear?
  • What is the state of the ship like?
  • Who is with him?
  • What equipment is he taking with him? Dogs? Sledges? Tents?
  • What food is he going to pack to take with him to the South Pole?
  • Does he have a plan on how to beat Roald Amundsen?

Once you have finished, draw a picture of Robert Scott landing in Antarctica with his ship and crew.
