Watch the video clip below on famous artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrHZL8pp--M
As you watch the clip ask your child these questions - Do you like these paintings? why/ why not? What fruits and vegetables can you see in the paintings?
You are now going to make your own portrait picture in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
First you need to decide who your portrait is going to be of - a self portrait? your mum or dad? brother or sister? gran or grandad?
Once you have decided who you picture is going to be of you now need to decide which season you want your picture to be - Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter
When you have decided on your season you will now need to research which fruits and vegetables are grown in that season. For example in the summer strawberries, raspberries and blueberries grow and in the Autumn apples, carrots and cauliflowers grow.
Once you have completed your research you now need to draw a variety of the different fruits and vegetables onto a piece of plain paper and colour them in. Make sure that you draw a few of each fruit or vegetable and make sure that they are different shapes and sizes. Draw as many as you think you will need for your picture ready to make tomorrow!
