Spellings

Spellings

Spellings will now be posted on this page on THURSDAY of each week. Spellings will be tested the following WEDNESDAY.

Your child will know which group they are in. Please help them to learn their spellings by doing these activities at home:

Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check - Look at a word, say it out loud, cover the word up, try to write it without looking again, check your spelling.

Find the pattern - Help your child to work out the pattern or patterns of letters that are in their word list.

See it in your head - Ask your child to spell each word to you without looking at them - they can say the spelling or write the words after you say each one.

Meaning - Make sure your child knows the meaning of the word.

Using - Help your child to create some sentences using their words of the week. This will help their understanding and their spelling.
