This week we will be looking at fractions, particularly concentrating on 1/2 (half) and 1/4 (quarter).
To find a 1/4, you just need to find 1/2 and then find 1/2 of that.
Watch the YouTube video to find out more.
Look around the house for objects, such as Lego, crayons, playing cards and see if you can divide them into piles of 1/2 and then 1/4. If you're lucky enough to have pizza or cake then again try dividing these into 1/2 and 1/4.
Remember, if you are dividing by 1/2, put them in TWO piles, but if you're dividing by 1/4, put them into FOUR piles.
Fill a jug with water and try to fill a cup 1/4 or 1/2 full from it.
Please send us photos of your work.
Look at yesterday's work to remind yourself of how to find a 1/2 and a 1/4. Today we'll be using shapes and shading them in by 1/4 and a 1/2.
Remember, to find a 1/4, you just need to find 1/2 and then find 1/2 of that.
Complete the sheet - you'll only need to do the first page.
If you can't print the sheet out then draw your own shapes.
Today we will be looking at fractions of numbers. Watch the Power Point to learn how to find 1/2 and 1/4 of different numbers. you only need to look at the 1/2 and 1/4 pages (the first 10 pages).
Try to answer the problems on the presentation.
