Noticeboard Updated: 15/6/20

Monday 15th June 2020

Hi everybody,

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend.

The preparations for our return to school are underway.  This week I am going to be working with Mrs Kinsey and Mrs Cooper on arrangements for our return so I will not be as readily available and may only be able to return emails in the evenings.  If you usually send each piece of work to me separately, I may not respond to every email you send but I will comment on each piece in one email.

It's been great to see so many of you in our video calls.  I am not sure yet if I will be able to organsie video calls for this week or not. I will keep you posted!

Have a great week!

Monday 1st June 2020

Hi everybody,

I hope you've had a lovely week off and have enjoyed spending time with your families in the glorious sunshine.

We have a new topic for this half term.  Our work will be based around the book 'The Legend of Podkin One-Ear' by Kieran Larwood. In school we would usually read this book all together and then do our work around it.  I will be reading extracts of the book to you and posting the videos on the webpage.  You may like to get your own copy of the book so that you can read along.

I miss you all and I know that you are all missing your friends too.  I started video calling last half term and it has worked really well.  I will be continuing with this into this half term.  You will receive an email with dates and times at least 24 hours before your call. It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible.

Your work last half term was fantastic and I'm looking forward to seeing your work this half term too.

Hi everyone,

I hope you and your families are all well.  I can’t believe that we’re in May already!

Well done for all of the fantastic work that I am getting in each week. You guys are doing so well with your home learning and I’m proud of all of you.

This week is a special week for 2 reasons.  On Friday we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day and our literacy and topic activities are based around this.  You’ll be pleased to know that there is no work provided for Friday as it is a bank holiday and this gives you the opportunity to spend some quality time with your families.  Many people are planning their own (quarantine-friendly) family garden parties and picnics.  If you do something take a photo and send it to me! Another reason that this week is special is because Mr McInnes has launched the Lansdowne Primary School Library Facebook Page.  Your parents have all been sent an email giving them more details. Every day at 11am and 2pm a member of staff will go live on the Facebook page to read a story. make sure that you tune-in life as they won’t be saved. Remember that your parents need to log in to Facebook because you are not old enough for an account! I have attached the picture of the timetable below.

It’s been lovely to see some photos of some of the other things that you’ve been doing at home because it’s lovely to see your faces again! This week I am hoping to create a gallery page on our website page so that I can post the pictures so that you will be able you see your friends as I’m sure that you’re all missing each other!

Cardiff council are running a project called ‘The ‘Diff Diaries’ where they are collecting photos and stories to document this time as an historical event.  If you’d like more information about how you can get involved, see the main ‘Distance Learning’ page on the school website.

I am launching a SumDog competition this morning which will run until Friday afternoon.  In the last SumDog competition our leaderboard looked like this:

1st - Joe

2nd - Jahin

3rd - Samavia

4th - Jacob

5th - Sohil

Well done if you made it on to the leader board last time. Let’s see who will make it on there this week! Good luck!

Have a fantastic week,

Mrs Bees

Monday 20th April

Hi Everyone,

I hope you've had a lovely Easter break and have enjoyed the sunny weather.

I have posted work for the coming week.  As before, I have posted one maths and one literacy lesson per day and two topic tasks per week.  Have a go at doing as much as you can but remember that learning new skills, being creative, getting outdoors and enjoying time with your family is also important.

I love seeing your work and pictures of what else you have been up to.  Was also lovely to receive some emails just to say hi.

All of the staff are missing you very much.  We made a video for you.  Take a look:

Speak to you all soon.

Wednesday 25th March

Hi Everyone,

How are you all doing? Not too bored I hope!

Well done all of those people who are sending me work every day. You're all doing a fantastic job at your home learning.

Has anyone been having a go at the Lego Challenge on the 'Optional Activities' page?  If you have, send me your pictures and I'll post them here. I'm hoping to dig out my lego and have a go at a few of them soon!
