Good morning!

Please look at your new spelling's for 2 mins before your test. You will find the spellings on the main year 2 page under the spellings tab.

Spelling test

Ask an adult to read out your spellings for you to write down in a list. Your spellings can be written at the back of your exercise book with the date at the top of the page.

Once you have completed your spellings, see if you can think of a sentence using each word from your spellings and write them underneath your test. If you get any of the spellings incorrect then practice spelling them correctly five times underneath.

The new book this week is...

The cloud and the rainbow - Read by Esther Rantzen

I hope you enjoyed the story.

Have a look at some of the vocabulary taken from the story. I would like you to read these words and try putting them into a sentence. Instead of writing sentences I would like you to say the sentences. If you can, ask an adult to record you and watch yourself back. It is really interesting to listen to yourself speaking. We can learn so much, like how we sound,  are speaking clearly?, are we using interesting vocabulary?, are we pausing when we need to? and, are we speaking loud enough?

Once you have done this, get an adult to do it and you can listen to them.

Vocabulary from the story

  • hovering
  • neighbourhood
  • bravely
  • lonely
  • useless
  • bold
  • hopeless
  • wise
  • joy
  • hopeful

This week we are going to be focussing on Oracy (speaking)

The activity above will be a good warm up for the forthcoming lessons. Have fun!smiley
