A course is being held during the school holiday at the Road Safety Centre in Maindy for children aged 9 years and over.
The course runs over four mornings and costs £10 per child. This is open to all Cardiff children but they must be able to ride a bike under control and must
Bring a roadworthy bike.
Following health and safety advice, the wearing of a cycle helmet is compulsory and, if required, one can be purchased from the Centre for £10. Bicycles can be stored overnight for convenience.
The main things that children will learn are practical riding skills, how to check their bike and the Highway Code for cycling. Providing the children have achieved the necessary skills on Day 1, they will also have the opportunity to train on local roads.
Level 1 (starting and stopping, steering, swerving, using gears and signalling) will be taught and assessed on the Monday using the Maindy Centre’s road training layout.
Please be aware that children cannot be taken on the Level 2 on-road training sessions unless they have sucessfully completed Level 1.
A fee of £10 per child is required to reserve places.
